TEHRAN – Ivory Coast's ambassador to Tehran Tamakolo Ouattara has paid visits to some historical sites in Markazi province, located in the heart of Iran.

On Saturday, the envoy, along with several other visitors including a cultural agent from the Turkish Chamber of Commerce, toured a cultural heritage museum, historical public bathhouse, and centuries-old stronghold during their stay in the province, a local official said.

Such visits pave the way for broader cultural cooperation among nations to bring rich cultures closer together, Mohammad Salehi added.

Earlier this month, Markazi’s tourism chief said staying in eco-lodge units in the province had been welcomed by many domestic and overseas vacationers. “The province is home to 30 eco-lodge complexes, which provided accommodation for some 45000 overnight stays during the first half of the current Iranian year,” Masud Farrokhi said.

Situated adjacent to the Zagros Mountain range and the central desert of Iran, the weather conditions of the province are semi-arid but with alterations according to the height of the land. Some of its agricultural products such as pomegranates and cantaloupe are exported to many countries of the world.
